I’ve always disliked Pound intensely.

And… I never knew that about Yeats.

Always had a soft spot for the old codge. For this piece I reread Ginsberg's diary notes on his meeting with Pound (https://allenginsberg.org/2020/10/f-o-30-488/. It's where the “I found out after seventy years I was not a lunatic but a moron” line came from, and the "my worst mistake was the stupid suburban prejudice of anti-Semitism, all along, that spoiled everything -”... And he did champion and coach good work from many fine poet, including the later, monkey-gonaded Yeats...

How right he was re his stupid suburban anti-Semitism. His and Eliot’s. And hosts of others’. Trouble is…”stupid and suburban” rather downplays its impact down the centuries, making it sound like a fondness for privet. Or does so for me. But, I’d like to think he was sincere in his recognition of his mistake.

I’ll have a look at the Ginsberg piece. Thanks for the reference.
