ouch! I hope your arm is healing quickly. Thanks for this piece. These are unfortunately familiar statistics, echoed here in BC with health care workers including doctors and nurses leaving in droves...

Thanks Marian! Elbow coming along nicely, but took a bit of a hit yesterday when I forgot about it and did a very graceful jackknife dive into the canal. So stupid. But I have two physiotherapist twisting and pounding on it constantly, so I should have my left jab and uppercut back in a couple of months.

I had an excellent and amazing experience at Cochin’s cardiology unit. My cost was zero. And I’m not on the French system (Carte Vitale)… I arrived in the emergency room at 11 pm Sunday night. Stent placed in one of my coronary arteries at 2:30 pm Monday. Walked home Tuesday afternoon. Doctors, nurses, entire support staff worked the ward like dancers. Insanely well choreographed. And they were communicative, caring and smart.

Why would I return to the United States? Not for healthcare. I’d be bankrupt in a year.

Good to hear! When? Cochin's famous for their cardiology unit, ranked very high in the world...

Feb 22, 2022. The surgeon who inserted the stent is Prof Varenne. The others are top notch. Ask me about my tumor and my neurosurgery!

March 2018 a non-cancerous tumor was found with an MRI scan on my right vestibular nerve affecting my hearing quite severely. Decision was made to remove it surgically. I checked into Lariboisiere for an all day surgery. Prof Froelich (head of dept) did the surgery. Wonderful person, great surgeon, in demand all across Europe. I stayed for a week while I recovered (somewhat) and then home to relearn how to walk! Four years later this past April I did a week of "cyberknife" radiation to shrink and kill the tumor that was still growing. Will see what the results are in the fall when I take an MRI to check on the growth.
